Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the position of Student Life Specialist (Coordinator of Student Life and Campus Diversity). The Coordinator of Student Life and Campus Diversity is responsible for student life programming and diversity initiatives of the campus, especially those focused on the needs of our student population. This includes advising the Student Union Board, Student Athletic & Wellness Board, Cougar Advocates for Diversity and any programming done by the Student Activities Office. Includes managing the Campus Diversity budget and supervising the three student organizations' budgets. The Coordinator of Student Life and Campus Diversity is responsible for providing assistance and support to a variety of special student populations, including underrepresented minority students, and other student groups requiring advocacy, assisting various student groups on campus in planning activities and coordinating leadership development opportunities for students. The Coordinator will provide direct supervision to one graduate assistant and at least one student intern. The Coordinator will collaborate with the Office of Admissions and Advising Centers to recruit and retain students in special populations. A significant portion of the duties related to this position focuses on the promotion of out-of-class co-curricular and learning opportunities. The Coordinator may serve on campus wide committees and serve as a resource to the campus on student life, programming, and diversity issues and initiatives. The Coordinator will plan programmatic calendars that will encourage student engagement in campus life opportunities and diversity celebration/recognition events.
Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or a related field and two years of experience in student services, higher education or a related field.
