The Brand Manager plays a pivotal role in helping to build strategies and plans that define and elevate the APU brand narrative in a cohesive and meaningful way across internal and external channels. The Brand Manager will support Azusa Pacific's focus on building a leading brand.Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Communication, the positionwill be responsible for the development and management of tools and processesthat manage the university's brand architecture and brand positioning. This individual will assist with the deployment of our brand architecture across theorganization; set benchmarks for the company's brand; and support the ongoingmeasurement of brand equity.
The Brand Manager will work cross-functionally to consult, develop, and/or execute programs that support the brand platform, naming, and brand architecture. The role will partner with the Executive Director of Strategic Communication to ensure use and consistency of visual and verbal identity,trademarks, and intellectual property.
Bachelor of Arts in Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, or area of expertise.
5-7years experience in a fast-paced, deadline driven, strategic communications or marketing communications environment.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Partner with VP of Strategic Communication and Engagement, marketing colleagues, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure internal and external communication efforts are aligned with long-term goals.
Ensure consistency in brand image, brand messaging, and product messaging across all internal and external channels, including, web, social media, PR, collateral, and events, as was executive communications, Total Access, and home.apu.edu. Through these efforts, help the university reach its goals of building brand awareness, thought leadership, and engagement.
Assist in the development of long-term brand identity and strategy, and support the brand integration in new degree offerings and through the strategic plan.
Assist in the development of brand positioning and messaging for the university brand.
Strategize content marketing plans in consultation with the SCE team and company objectives.
Create, analyze, and report on KPIs for the SCE functional area.
Create brand management and content development governance structures to guide strategic content creation.
Build and manage a robust content marketing/editorial calendar in conjunction with the SCE team.
Conceptualize and develop strategic communication best practices tool kit, procedures, and protocols.
Post to the university website as needed.
Manage the project management system to track activity.
Excellent conceptual, verbal, and written skills.
Proven experience refining, managing, and changing corporate positioning and messaging.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Team player with the ability to juggle multiple tasks with great attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines and priorities.
Understanding of creative workflow process, including project initiation and kickoff, execution, approvals, production, proofing, tracking, and archiving.
Must be approachable and responsive to both internal and external clients.
Able to influence and resolve issues effectively.
Must exhibit excellent technical skills, outstanding creativity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with a team as they recognize the value of diverse partnerships in realizing creative solutions.
Proficient in Macintosh systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Google Apps Suite.
