The International School (TIS) is an independent, coeducational, language immersion IB day school for 350 students, Pre-K (3-year-olds) -Grade 5. The mission of the School is to inspire children to become global citizens through an inquiry-based learning environment of total immersion in multiple languages and cultures. It is located just south of downtown Portland, Oregon on the edge of the Waterfront District, making this close-knit campus with outdoor playground areas attractive to families on both sides of the river.
The centrally located campus provides an urban environment where students benefit from easy access to the Oregon Ballet, the Portland Japanese Garden, the Lan Su Chinese Garden, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, the Portland Art Museum, and so much more! The School itself functions in five buildings, the most recent being Learners' Hall, which houses classrooms, a faculty lounge, and some offices.
For 30 years, TIS has provided a warm, multicultural environment where children experience full language immersion from preschool through Grade 5 in three language tracks: Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese.
Small classes and an inquiry-based, International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum enable the students to acquire language fluency and cultural competence as they learn to pursue knowledge beyond the classroom and throughout life. The engaging and robust academic program is taught primarily by native speakers from around the world.
Today, our school is actively recruiting for the position opening of Development Director. Ideally, this position will begin effective July 01, 2021 for the 2021-2022 school term. We are seeking a professional leader who will be adept at supporting a strong Development Team; building community engagement through the philanthropic process , collaborating effectively alongside trustees and senior administrative leadership, while developing a strong culture of philanthropy. We are seeking a department leader who is experienced in revenue generation, and someone who is excited to join our dynamic team of Administrators. This position will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting to the Head of School. The ideal candidate will have successful experience working with a culturally diverse community.
A full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Head of School, the Development Director manages the 3-person development department to ensure that all tasks/duties are completed and that the department meets performance goals.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: creating and leading a comprehensive fundraising strategy (inclusive of major gifts, annual appeals, fundraising events, planned giving, endowment and capital campaigns) providing excellent donor stewardship, conducting prospect research),managing development communications and grant writing.

Compensation and Benefits:
$80,000-$90,000 Depending on Experience
Employer paid Medical, Dental, Vision, Short term, Long term Disability, and Life Insurance for employee only, voluntary Cafeteria plan with FSA, DCA and Transit account,403(b) retirement plan, flexible and generous paid time off. 100% tuition remission for a qualifying child, and a relocation fee of up to $5,000.

Interviews: Interviews will begin early May, 2021.
5+ years experience in a development or advancement role at a non-profit, preferably at an educational institution
Proven track record of fundraising success through multiple funding channels (major gift fundraising, direct mail, grants, and events)
Experience creating and leading a successful, comprehensive fundraising strategy
Experience partnering with different constituencies on fundraising activities, including trustees, volunteers and senior administrative staff
Background in administrative leadership, overseeing a department, and supervising employees
Communicate fluently in written and spoken English
Or any other combination of education and experience that meet the requirements of this position
Comfortable in an international community with experience living and/or traveling overseas and studying other languages.
Event planning experience
Experience with graphic design/publications software (Adobe suite)
Any other combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the candidate is likely to possess the skill, knowledge, ability and trait characteristics essential for this position may be considered.
