Position Description: Under the direct supervision of Managing Director, UCLA Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC), Program Manager for Research Facilitation supports the ongoing development and execution of OARC's research practices and integrated programs, bringing together cross-functional teams within OARC and campus research partners to support UCLA faculty and graduate student researchers.
Program Manager creates and executes best practices for the development and facilitation of OARC researcher training workshops led by OARC research technology group (RTGs) staff including, handling logistics to enable both physical, digital, and virtual delivery methods, communications and outreach, collecting and measuring effectiveness, creating efficiencies, enabling cross-functional collaboration, and researching, selecting and utilizing tools, technologies, and methodologies to optimize operational performance. Works with stakeholders to meet budget targets, alerts of any potential budget shortfalls, escalates issues, and contributes ideas for programmatic improvement to OARC leadership.
Program Manager collaborates on all aspects of the program and assesses program effectiveness and executes on project deliverables. Provides project management support, analytical and statistical reporting, attends meetings and events, conducts research, conducts conference calls, and outreaches to research technology support staff as required. Studies and prepares analyses and recommendations on trends in emerging research technologies. Conducts OARC project tracking and reports status to leadership as appropriate.
Program Manager develops partnership relationships with university units, including but not limited to as UCLA Office of Research and Creative Activities (ORCA), Office of Contracts and Grants (OCGA), IT Services, vendors, various academic and administrative units and student groups, and external partners for the purpose of executing research technology programmatic activities.
Program Manager is primary point of contact for OARC public relations and external communications. Develops, manages, and disseminates OARC branding materials internally for consistency in campuswide communications, working with external partners, as appropriate. Utilizes cloud technologies, such as CRM, event, collaboration, performance tracking, and survey tools/systems to facilitate and enable excellence in customer relations, lead generation, outreach and consistent follow-up. Leads the development and distribution of OARC content and communications in a variety of formats and platforms, including web, mobile, and social media. Develops the OARC annual report working across OARC functional teams for content and execution.
Program Manager facilitates logistics for the research governance and collaboration process supporting the Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE). Works directly with IDRE Executive Director to create IDRE board meeting agendas; collect, distribute and post relevant materials, summaries and action items; manage IDRE email distribution lists and other relevant communication channels; manage meeting logistics; communicate and follow-up with the IDRE Board faculty, as appropriate; and coordinate the IDRE board nomination and voting process. Facilitates support for broader, discipline-specific, IDRE-sponsored faculty workshops as directed by OARC leadership and IDRE Executive Director.
