Reporting to the Communications Director, the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy seeks a detail oriented and highly organized candidate for the position of Communications Coordinator, who will assist in communicating the work of the Shorenstein Center with the purpose of maximizing the Center's impact. Primary responsibilities include keeping the Center's website and social media channels updated regularly, assisting with promotion of events and publications from the Center and its projects, and producing written, graphic, and audio/video content for the Center's communications.
Specifically, the Communications Coordinator will write and publish engaging content on the Shorenstein Center's website; he/she will draft and publish digital news stories highlighting research, publications, news, events and other activities of the Center; regularly post Center content and news to the Center's social media channels; and draft and produce the Center's email newsletters. The Communications Coordinator will also assist the Events Manager and Fellows Program Manager with marketing the Center's public events and fellowship programs, and work with the Center's program teams to promote content and activities they are producing.
Additional responsibilities include managing projects with outside vendors or freelancers, including video and audio editing and publication design; coordinating printed material contracts and projects; managing the Center's database of photographs; creating graphic design assets including posters, web banners, and publication PDFs; and overseeing production and distribution of the Center's podcasts (both event recordings and occasional original podcast episodes). This position will also entail some administrative work, including assisting with keeping the Communications team organized and coordinating and collaborating with the Center's programs and projects.
This is a benefits eligible term appointment for one year from date of hire, with possibility of renewal.

2 years' experience in marketing, communications, public affairs, journalism or related field.
Experience writing and editing digital content (website, marketing emails, and social media).
Strong writing skills with ability to quickly craft news stories and summaries of the Center's varied research and public activities.
Experience using graphic design tools for tasks including poster creation and/or print publication layouts.
Experience managing projects with many moving pieces and stakeholders.
Ability and interest in thinking creatively and strategically about communications content.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
