Job Summary: The Graphic Designer Senior works to further the strategic initiatives of The University of Alabama through the creation and execution of audience and mission appropriate graphic design. All of their design serves to project, strengthen, and sustain a positive image of the institution. The position requires the ability to think and plan strategically as part of a team and the ability to take responsibility for projects, following through from conception to completion and exercising leadership in the interpretation and implementation of the University's unifying graphic standards.
Additional Department Summary: The Graphic Designer Senior works to further the strategic initiatives of The University of Alabama - particularly in student recruitment and retention, fundraising, and constituent relations.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in art, commercial art, graphic design, visual communication and three (3) years of experience in graphic design; OR Associate's degree in art, commercial art, graphic design, visual communication and five (5) years of experience in graphic design. A portfolio that displays competence in all areas of design and mechanical preparation for print production.
Skills and Knowledge: Must be able to design creatively and efficiently using the MacIntosh operating system and appropriate software (including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and DreamWeaver.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience in photography and multiple techniques of illustration.
