Provide comprehensive and responsive administrative and technical support for the Research Director, including ensuring the daily completion of work products and requests (received in the form of hand-written scans) as well as project management with a particular focus on the Directorâ™s many external, internal, and publication-related deadlines.
Code, edit, and prepare (in LaTeX) complex academic manuscripts and other technical documents in collaboration/consultation with the Senior Technical Editor and/or research team.
Oversee the maintenance of CEHD citation and reference repositories (e.g., Heckman.bib, Endnote).
Transcribe and confidentially handle the Research Directorâ™s manuscript evaluations in collaboration/consultation with the Academic Initiatives and Publications Manager.
Support the Research Director in preparing instructional materials (e.g., slides using Beamer and PowerPoint).
Proofread (grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity) and perform quality control consistency, accuracy, and compliance) for all work products.
Enter on-demand keyword updates to the Research Directorâ™s online content management system.
Organize and maintain a comprehensive research archive to ensure continuity across projects.
Collaborates with authors to resolve routine problems using existing procedures and to clarify meaning. Assists with quality control by proofreading edited manuscripts.
May coordinate all or some stages of manuscript editing and proof review up to the time the book is bound and edit and approve catalog and jacket materials with guidance from others.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum of 2 years professional experience in a related field
Ability to work productively despite a heavy workload, competing priorities, complex problems, and/or tight deadlines.
Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information with absolute discretion.
Ability to manage projects and complete work with a high level of accuracy, strict attention to detail, and minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate with courtesy, clarity, and diplomacy in a service-oriented role.
Excellent problem-solving skills where an issue is followed through to resolution.
Technical Knowledge or Skills
Technical editing: LaTex, Overleaf, Endnote, etc.
Design: Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
Content management: Wordpress, Tumblr, etc.
Advanced word processing: Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., complex formatting)
Project management: G Suite, Basecamp, etc.
