DESCRIPTIONIn 2007, the Department of NanoEngineering is the newest department in the Jacobs School of Engineering. This young and vibrant department is in an intensive growth phase, recruiting faculty and staff, planning new space and facilities, and creating new and exciting graduate and undergraduate programs, currently offering B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in NanoEngineering and Chemical Engineering. The NanoEngineering Department has grown rapidly with 30 faculty members and anticipated enrollment for fall 2019 of over 700 undergraduates and 200 graduate students. Under general supervision, uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently manage and oversee research proposals, awards, and transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and/or multiple sub awards. Guides less experienced staff. Incumbent will also supervise 2.0 career FTEs and review process and implement best practices as it relates to the areas of fiscal transactions. Exercise leadership and discretionary authority to negotiate and/or solve pre/post concerns; use a high degree of independence, ingenuity and analytical skills to resolve complex, unusual and non-routine problems or issues. Formulate internal policy and procedures and make recommendations to the Chair, DBO and Financial Manager for full scope of organizational development, contract and grant administration, internal communications and policy research and enforcement.
