The Multimedia Copywriter is responsible for developing creatively conceptualized and smartly written marketing collateral across various channels, with a focus on video, web and digital advertising. The position creates work that is aligned with University’s brand strategy, voice and personality to achieve the University’s marketing goals. Primary Responsibilities: - Develop brand-appropriate, creative content for various channels, with an emphasis on web and digital-first advertising content. - Writes scripts for internally and externally facing University videos. - Serves on the team overseeing YouTube strategy for the University. - Write attractive and effective copy aligned to brand strategy for a variety of audiences (i.e. prospective students and parents) and formats (e.g., web, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, emerging media, etc.). - Collaborate with the creative, marketing and content teams to develop and present campaign/content ideas that contribute to the marketing strategy. - Maintain copy library and communicate across functions to ensure consistency and alignment. - Use SEO best practices to optimize content and increase visibility. Secondary Responsibilities: - With the senior copywriter and creative director, ensure that the brand standards guidelines are maintained. - Assist with project management on multimedia projects. - Produce other forms of content, including scripts, print collateral, articles, etc. - Other duties as assigned Required: - Bachelor’s degree in English, creative writing, advertising, marketing or related field. - At least 1-3 years of experience as a copywriter, in house or in a creative agency setting. - Experience working on multimedia, multi-channeled campaigns. - Understanding of target audiences, including generational nuances and trends. - Experience with social media marketing and understanding of SEO best practices. - Portfolio containing finished professional pieces as well as conceptual work. - Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to receive and assimilate critical feedback while adhering to deadlines and production schedules Preferred: - Familiarity with higher education industry and dynamics. - Experience promoting youth-centric brands or services. The position may require long periods spent in front of a computer. - In addition, weekend and after hours work may be required. |
