The Director of Member Engagement & Communications implements engagement and communications strategies and campaigns for a wide variety of initiatives and projects. The position builds and maintains a positive image for Brunswick Electric Member Cooperative with employees, membership, local governments, other utilities, and the general public. Under the direction of the Vice President of Corporate Services, this is a critical and highly visible management position.

Essential Functions

Leads effective outreach, public relations, social media, and crisis communication strategies to cultivate optimal working relationships with all stakeholder groups – employee, membership, government agencies and community. Represents the Cooperative by serving on various community boards and committees as needed or assigned.

• Establishes and drives multi-channel communication campaigns for strategic and community relations Cooperative initiatives. Tracks engagement across platforms and makes data-driven decisions.

• Collaborates closely with senior leadership to effectively communicate with employees in a voice that is consistent with the culture and values of the organization. Develops and maintains mutli-channel employee communication calendar to promote employee engagement.

• Develops annual marketing, engagement, and communications plan(s) to meet the strategic objectives of the Cooperative and recommends resources to achieve departmental objectives through the annual budgeting processes. Efficiently leverages staff and contracted labor to deliver.

• Leads a team of communication, marketing, and design professionals and assists in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content. Provides professional development, coaching and training for team.

• Plans and coordinates annual meeting activities.

• Responsible for the technical accuracy of work; maintaining good communications and working relationships; coordinating work with others; meeting deadlines; and adhering to company guidelines, policies, practices and procedures.
