SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER , Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF) , to lead the implementation of communications projects and programs that support VPF's goals and objectives. Will serve as communications strategist responsible for executing projects and initiatives; create, edit, and produce high-caliber print and electronic communications materials and presentations; write and edit content; create graphics and design for use across the spectrum of VPF communications projects; maintain and update the VPF website and co-lead the development and production of newsletters, reports, and other communications materials; serve as a thought partner to VPF senior leadership; and join VPF project teams to develop communications' strategies (editorial and design) for the rollout of significant financial systems/service changes to the MIT community; support efforts to develop and refine VPF's identity and brand; collaborate on training materials and courses; and handle other duties/projects as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in related field; at least seven years' journalism, communications, and/or public relations experience; excellent writing, editing, and graphic design skills; ability to write in different voices and for different audiences; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), MailChimp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Drupal and ability to learn new platforms; ability to translate complex concepts into precise and intuitive communications, remain well-organized, and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines; knowledge of design and layout software; adaptability, flexibility, and ability to reprioritize workload; strong interpersonal and active listening skills; demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with key constituents within VPF and in the broader MIT community; and good judgment, tact, and diplomacy with sensitive matters and confidential material.
