COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, CLIMATE AND SUSTAINABILITY CONSORTIUM , School of Engineering , to focus on developing, implementing, and managing the communications strategies for the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium. Will conceptualize and implement communications; write, edit, and approve content for a variety of communications and outreach projects; manage event planning and logistics and projects; manage communication budget for campaigns and events; determine project budget guidelines and resource allocation; partner and build relationships with vendors to achieve expected outcomes while overseeing adherence to budget and schedule; research and maintain a solid understanding of marketing communications industry trends and determine communication strategies that best support MCSC objectives; determine appropriate work methods, schedules, and priorities on goals and objectives to be achieved; lead all communication efforts between MIT stakeholders; and be responsible for engaging and maintaining contact with members while reporting to stakeholders on key project initiatives and use of funds.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's desirable) in English, communications, journalism, or related field; at least five years' professional communications experience, preferably in higher education or at a research institution or in journalism, public relations, or marketing; experience planning and implementing communications strategies; excellent written and verbal communication, editorial, and presentation skills; experience with print and digital communication, user interface trends, and web design best practices; ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear language; ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team and to build productive relationships with faculty/staff/external audiences; strong organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills; experience with social media content creation, monitoring, metrics, and reporting; demonstrated design skills and proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; and experience using HTML and CMS.
