This position will report to the Associate Athletic Director. The Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of an NCAA Division III tennis program to include the support and advancement of the mission of Marymount University, evaluation, recruitment of qualified scholar student-athletes that includes local, regional and national talent, coaching, coordinating team practices to enhance the team’s performance as a highly visible sport, budget oversight, and fundraising activities. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with NCAA rules and regulations, create a dynamic, inclusive, and diverse recruiting plan to attract and retain high-profile student-athletes that are academically and athletically prepared.
Develop and execute a strategic plan for developing a regionally and nationally recognized competitive team.
Oversee and coordinate seasonal plans to include: competitive schedules, facilities, officials, academic progress, welfare, and retention.
Adhere to the rules of the University, Atlantic East Conference, USTA, and the NCAA Division III
In conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff, athletic trainers and team physicians develop training and conditioning programs to enhance team performance.
Analyze and evaluate the performance of student-athletes before and during competition.
Serve as an ambassador for Marymount Athletics through the articulation of its mission, promoting the tennis program locally, nationally, and internationally.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, faculty, staff, media, parents, and friends of Marymount.
OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
Identifies, supervises, and evaluates assistant coaching staff and graduate assistants.
Manages budget, equipment procurement, team and recruiting travel arrangements
Organizes and cultivates fundraising events and relationships with campus partners and community organizations.
Monitors affiliated professional organizations.
Serves in administrative assignments.
Assist in the development of strategies to increase visibility and attendance at home and away events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
At least 5 years of coaching experience, including three years of head coaching experience. Collegiate playing experience. Thorough knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Licenses or Certifications
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Current and valid driver's license.
Processes or records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards. Reviews and/or approves financial transactions at the function or department level. May require some interpretation of policies. Process purchase requests and make budgetary decisions within a set budget for the program.
Supervises Graduate Assistants and Assistant Coaches. This includes hiring, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications and recruiting/compliance software (Front rush). Good relationship skills with the university community. Ability to work independently and to work evenings and weekends to accomplish necessary tasks.
