![]() Assistant Specialist for AMS Lab/Research Group (Dept of ETOX, UC Davis) POSITION BACKGROUND The Qi Zhang's AMS Lab/Research Group is seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to the ongoing projects in aerosol mass spectrometry field observation data analysis (https://sites.google.com/site/qizhanggroup/). Under general supervision, the new hire will compile and analyze atmospheric measurement data, document methods, guidelines, and templates, and work with the Lab Principal Investigator (Prof. Qi Zhang) to coordinate project goals and tasks. The primary work location will be Meyer Hall 4251.. POSITION DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of Dr. Zhang, the Assistant Specialist will perform the following duties. I. Research in specialized areas (90%) A. Collaborate with other personnel affiliated with research activities involving atmospheric chemistry measurements and aerosol mass spectrometry data analysis. Evaluation of performance in research activities as deemed applicable to the individual project in specialized areas, as documented by any of the following: 1) Publications that acknowledge the Specialist's significant and meaningful contribution to the work. 2) Publications on which the Specialist is an author. 3) Other evidence (e.g., letters from collaborators or principal investigators) that work done by the Specialist contributed to publishable research. 4) Active dissemination of information (beyond the boundaries of the campus) through informal instruction, presentations, or other means stemming from the Specialist's research accomplishments. 5) Other evidence of recognized expertise may include formal documentation of intellectual effort and participation in publishable research activities, first authorship on publications/patents, presentation of research at regional/national meetings, invitations to review grant proposals and/or journal articles, invitations to participate in research projects, and/or service on advisory panels B. Serve as a research coordinator for atmospheric aerosol measurement projects conducted by Prof. Qi Zhang's group in the department of Environmental of Toxicology, as resources permit. Responsible for data management and preparation of reports tailored to meet the needs of the requesting individuals within the Zhang's group. II. Professional Competence (5%) A. Participate in appropriate professional/technical societies, such as the American Association of Aerosol Research (AAAR) and the American Geophysical Union (AGU), and present research results at the university seminar series, local scientific workshops, and national meetings. B. Review research proposals, journal manuscripts, and publications related to area of expertise. III. University and Public Service (5%) A. Maintain liaison and respond to the needs of various state and federal agencies, such as the California Air Resource Board and the US Department of Energy, on issues related to area of expertise. B. Participate in activities of committees within the department, college, campus and other University entities, as appropriate. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: SALARY RANGE: Step 1, $53,300.00/annually plus benefits POSITION AVAILABLE/CLOSING DATE: For full consideration, apply by September 1, 2020.
