The Website Content Editor will manage content and identify opportunities to enhance website performance. This position is an integral member of the Marketing and Communications team and will be responsible for planning, creating, editing, and publishing compelling content for the sju.edu website. The Website Content Editor will be the University’s resident SEO expert and will implement best practices across University web content types including information, storytelling, news and announcements. This position will have experience in project management and be extremely organized in task management. This role will collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content is relevant and high-performing as well as maintain an annual editorial cycle, in coordination with the content and web directors, to refresh all web content.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):
Primary Responsibilities: • Write, edit and curate content on Saint Joseph’s sju.edu website as well as guide institutional subsites. • Contribute to the University’s efforts to continually enhance website content, design, usability and navigation; to establish and maintain web standards; to employ best practices in web – in service of enhancing reputation, enrollment and engagement. • Elevate standards and compliance with University best practices using tools such as Siteimprove and the University’s Content Management System (CMS). • Create a timely content production calendar outlining drafts of content updates based on SEO best practices and content performance. • Serve as primary web project manager on all web projects. • Work directly with other departments on content assets (images, program information, marketing information, etc.) and coordinate the production and optimization of content. • Manage campus web editor group including timely content editing, quality control and training sessions. • Steward Saint Joseph’s brand to maintain the tone, style, identity, across the website including image/content optimization. • Leverage analytics tools (e.g., Search Console, Google Analytics, Tag Manager) to identify technical and content issues and suggest shifts and changes. • Make recommendations for adhering to standards of contemporary web design, particularly within a higher education setting. • In collaboration with the web team, ensure that the University’s websites are compliant with government regulations and mandates including WCAG and ADA web accessibility standards.
• Work collaboratively with IT to determine the marketing and internal communications priorities for the intranet, as needed. • Manage and educate student workers, as needed. • Support content development for other channels, include social media, e-newsletters and email, University magazine, etc. • Contribute to the overall success of the Office of Marketing and Communications and Saint Joseph’s University by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience Required):
• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, computer science, web design or related field or the equivalent combination of education, experience and expertise. • At least 3 years of experience in web editing, web design, web development and use of web technologies. • At least 1 to 3 years of experience working on large, complex websites utilizing CMS such as Drupal and WordPress. Experience with Drupal, WordPress sites or similar content management systems is a MUST. Candidates without CMS experience need not apply. • Practical experience and application of SEO best practices. • Knowledge of AP style. • Incredible attention to detail and focus on quality control approval process. • Excellent writing, organizational, project management and time management skills. • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for interacting with multiple constituencies in a consensus-based environment.
• Experience working in a higher education environment. • Web development experience in multiple applications. • Google Analytics proficiency and/or certification. • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
The position may require long periods spent in front of a computer. In addition, weekend and after hours work may be required.
