The Recreation Department is searching for TWO Recreation Program Coordinators that will embrace this opportunity and unify and strengthen the community. One coordinator is assigned to the Antioch Senior Center and will plan, organize, promote, facilitate and coordinate regularly scheduled activities, events and services. Antioch welcomes the largest number of seniors daily for a nutritious meal and provides activities that promote aging gracefully and active living. One coordinator is assigned to the Antioch Water Park and coordinates customer service activities including group reservations, concessions, classes and events. The Water Park is a premier legacy facility in the community. This coordinator also supports citywide events and teen recreation programs. The City is looking for professionals that will work with integrity, compassion, high energy and creativity; must be a good communicator with co-workers and citizens.
Recreation Program Coordinator qualifications and requirements include: knowledge of basic program planning and implementation of recreation programs, principles of supervision and staff leadership. Understanding of and experience with, marketing principles and their application to recreation activities and facilities, as well as special events. Coordinators must enjoy planning and delivering special events and creative, unique opportunities for all ages. Good communication skills are required along with an understanding of the critical techniques used in customer service practices and public relations. Work experience in an aquatics setting is desirable but not required. Coordinators must be able to allocate limited resources in a cost-effective manner and understand how to seek out community needs for recreation and active living. Evaluating services, programs and events in order to improve recreation is a critical part of the position. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, business or public administration or a related field is required. One year experience in a leadership or coordination capacity in an organization responsible for planning and organizing recreation and/or related activities such as senior services, health/emergency services.
