Under the direction of the Township Manager, serves as the Community and Economic Development Coordinator for the township. The Community and Economic Development Coordinator will be a motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit responsible for ensuring Delta Township’s vision and values for its future. This employee shall understand the importance of traditional economic development initiatives along with contemporary efforts designed at creating attractive places to live, work, and play.
The position requires professional and technical work advancing Delta Township’s community and economic development activities including recruiting and retaining businesses, increasing the commercial and industrial tax base, working with multiple stakeholders to improve quality of life initiatives, and working to strategically position the township to compete for economic development and future sustainability.
The employee has frequent contact with industrial, commercial, and business property owners, business tenant-owners, township officials, neighbors of proposed projects, township departments, boards, and committees, as well as acting as the primary con- tact between county, state, regional and federal officials and stakeholders for all community and economic development purposes. This level of communication requires excellent public relations skills, persuasiveness, and resourcefulness.
• Two years of experience in economic development activities.
• Experience working with Brownfield plans and tax increment financing.
• Able to multi-task and work a variety of project types with short deadlines.
• Knowledge of placemaking and economic development practices and principles at the local, regional, and State levels.
• Knowledge of land use planning and zoning.

Delta Township is located on the west side of the Capital Area Region, bordered on the east by the City of Lansing.
