Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for a Human Sciences Specialist position to be filled at the Program Specialist I or II level. The position will focus on Behavioral Health within Human Sciences and promote Extension engagement and education with youth, families, agriculture, businesses, military, and communities in the behavioral health area. Â The primary office location is flexible and will be determined after acceptance of the offer. This position will be working under the direction of the Behavioral Health State Specialist.
Responsibilities include coordinating educational opportunities through consultation, technical assistance, evaluation and support for integrated content in the areas of human sciences with primary focus on aspects of behavioral health. Additional duties include assisting the development of program materials that may be used by the Extension and Outreach system to effectively build relationships with individuals, families, and communities.
Position will assist in the creation and potential delivery of comprehensive and complex programming, and implement innovative ways to meet clientsâ needs, take a role in the development of behavioral health related programming.Â
The successful candidate will assist in the development of partnerships and collaborations with appropriate agencies, associations and organizations to implement program activities. Strong organizational, facilitation and communications skills, along with an ability to pay close attention to detail will be essential for success in the position. The candidate will also possess the ability to prioritize multiple ongoing tasks concurrently to ensure immediate deadlines are met, as well as exceptional analytical and public relations skills to effectively represent and deliver ISU Human Sciences Extension and Outreach educational opportunities and programs.
Behavioral health and/or substance use education knowledge, initiative, and exceptional ability to coordinate a variety of activities to ensure immediate deadlines are met is required.Â Strong attention to detail is needed in order to be effective in this role. Â
All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.
The University is in the process of implementing a new classification and compensation structure. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2020. Any P&S employee hired through this posting may be assigned a new title and associated pay grade upon the employment start date (and after the initial offer), commensurate with qualifications required for the position. The duties and responsibilities of the posted position, in addition to compensation offered, will not be affected by this process.
