The Research and Education to support the Science of Independent Living for Inclusion and Engagement: National Center of Excellence RRTC (RESILIENCE RRTC) at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is a national center funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). The Center’s mission is to improve the health and function of people with disabilities and their caregivers by adapting and scaling two award winning evidence-based programs for children and older adults with disabilities (Chicago Parent Program [CPP] and CAPABLE); and to design new approaches using key attributes of effective and sustainable programs to ensure program effectiveness, relevance, utility, and scalability.
The RESILIENCE RRTC is seeking a Knowledge Translation Strategy Coordinator that will be responsible for the development and execution of a dissemination plan for the National Center that includes five research projects; research and information dissemination to universities, providers, policy makers, stakeholder organizations and community focused non-profits, and; community engagement and trainings. This position will require active engagement and coordination with local, regional and national agencies, businesses and organizations. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a database of caregiving and rehabilitation partner organizations and resources to support stakeholders. This individual will research and write pamphlets, brochures, bulletins, flyers, web-based information, press releases and other communication materials. Will develop relationships and maintain ongoing communication with internal team, external members, stakeholders, and key interventionists.
Knowledge Translation Strategy Coordinator will be responsible for lead planning, facilitation and execution of RESILIENCE RRTC processes across multiple projects. Under the general direction, guidance and leadership of the PI, the Sr. Program Coordinator will develop methods, prototypes, personas and drive project management. She or he will also oversee implementation, design and generate idea and insights.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
Lead planning, facilitation, and execution of the RESLIENCE RRTC external processes, with guidance from the PI, as applicable for a series of studies and specific activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Drive project management, with guidance and advisory from the PIs, including management of knowledge translation work plans, development and presentation of timely deliverables, budget management and oversight
Oversee implementation of final ideas and monitor sustainability of concepts in the field including facilitating shared learning exchanges between clinicians, care providers, caregivers, and pilot participants
Expand the outreach of the RESLIENCE RRTC by identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with internal team, external members, stakeholders, and key interventionists.
Develop and execute a comprehensive dissemination plan for the 5 projects
Develop strategic plans and objectives related to knowledge translation.
Develop new contacts and collaborative partnerships with key community agencies, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and faith communities.
Provide seminars, presentations, and training sessions to share general and project-specific evidence-based information, resources, and support services with caregivers and families.
Translate research information to the lay public, develop public policy outputs, and provide public education.
Draft manuscripts and prepare presentation materials. This also includes the development of materials for the website, newsletter, social media, focus groups, surveys, and training in a section 508 compliant version.
Use expertise to create an engaging up-to-date website through the collection of information from key research stakeholders and translating the information for various audiences.
Synthesize research knowledge and develop plain language research summaries for research projects.
Develop strategic communication initiatives that act as knowledge transfer mechanisms that raise the awareness of the work and outcomes of the research
Compile and disseminate reports and resources to broad audiences and stakeholders.
Provide advice and expertise to decision makers on the use of evaluation activities to measure the effectiveness of the knowledge translation strategy
Write and design communications, marketing, and dissemination tools for diverse audiences in print and electronic formats.
Liaise with internal contacts, external partners, community organizations and other stakeholders.
Coordinate media inquiries and connect media with relevant persons in the Center
Develop and implement various interactive activities including, but not limited to, website updates.
Evaluate website and make necessary changes regarding graphic layout, content, usability and relevance.
RESLIENCE RRTC Process Activities:
Experience in cultivating and sustaining strategic relationships with community stakeholders in order to enhance quality of life among older adults and people living with disabilities. The Knowledge TranslationStrategy Coordinator will conduct preparatory research about the problem space to understand existing care models, industry players, literature, reimbursement models, analogous situations
Develop, plan, coordinate and implement community engagement campaigns in order to generate volunteer interest, program participants, additional strategic partners, and to engage with policy makers.
Acting as Project Manager to oversee the conception and carryout of various projects, leveraging a variety of resources to ensure programs are rolled out effectively and in accordance with budgets
Identifying current trends and topics related to physical activity and via a variety of methods leading the annual knowledge plan to ensure the organization is at the forefront of research and knowledge sharing
Policy and Advocacy Activities:
Execute strategies designed to advance the work and goal of RESLIENCE RRTC
Build and manage relationships to provide targeted supports, technical assistance and consultation in an effort to increase the capacity to engage in advocacy on particular issues.
Spotlight and disseminate best practices and knowledge to all stakeholders.
Establish and manage advisory committees, panels, working groups and other mechanisms to provide ongoing stakeholder input and advice to projects and initiatives
Establish, build and nurture strong relationships with various organizations, partners and stakeholders
Establish and monitor critical paths, timelines, action plans to deliver research and thought leadership products and initiatives
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Five (5) years professional experience in health policy analysis, government relations, caregiving or disabilities research or advocacy, and/or other related fields.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Design Strategy, or related field.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in visual software (PowerPoint and Tableau), and quantitative analysis (Excel)
Must have experience with stakeholders, community-based organizations, and professional presentations
Experience coordinating multiple projects with different timelines
Knowledge of public health and health policy issues
Experience in strategic planning
Excellence in writing and editing as well as demonstrated competency in translating complex scientific concepts in written and visual materials for policy makers, general audiences, and other stakeholders
Experience managing websites
Experience managing professional social media accounts via scheduling platforms
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work proactively and independently and adapt to changing circumstances
Must have exemplary interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and highly organized
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal connection ability
Excellent oral and written skills are essential.
