The City of Brentwood is seeking to fill a newly created Public Information Officer to promote transparency, education, and awareness of city operations and programs. This position reports directly to the City Manager and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop a comprehensive approach to provide public information.
The Public Information Officer (PIO) is a dedicated public-facing position responsible for forging strong relationships through ongoing outreach and collaboration. The PIO will build an inclusive and transparent communication strategy to disseminate essential information through proactive communication and engagement practices. This position will be the central point of contact for media relations with the responsibility of organizing and coordinating timely and comprehensive public information through various media platforms. The successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in delivering on-time and accurate information to the public through integrated communication and marketing strategies.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public relations, communications, journalism, advertising, marketing, or a related field.
An advanced degree is highly desirable.
Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in public relations, communications, journalism, advertising, or marketing.
Possession of a California Driver's License must be maintained as a continued condition of employment.

public water and wastewater utilities, as well as providing refuse collection and disposal,
and a recycling program.
