The Policy and Grants Coordinator works with the Executive and Associate Directors to create and manage the policy agenda and communicate with a wide range of partners and member institutions. UCEA is a non-profit consortium committed to social justice and advancing the preparation and practice of educational leaders. Primary responsibilities involve project management, grant development and assistance, communication strategy, and fundraising.
Manage the implementation of numerous and varied projects across a long-term time horizon within an inclusive and diverse organization. Requires soliciting and synthesizing input from multiple partners and translating input into actionable plans. Independent decision-making, ability to prioritize needs, maintain personal and team deadlines, and act proactively to anticipate problems is a must. Ability to see linkages between projects and envision future opportunities is desired. Projects include coordinating national surveys of university programs to gauge outcomes, leading a major research project looking at state education plans, coordinating numerous research groups leading to the generation of policy briefs.
Develop and execute internal and public communication strategy to advance UCEA mission, values, initiatives and research including social media strategies, blog entries, webinars, marketing newsletters, national convention sessions, and press releases. In collaboration with Executive and Associate Directors, support the cultivation of high-value professional partnerships aligned to UCEA’s mission and growth. Communicate with member institutions to expand UCEA’s research and policy initiatives. Support supervisor in authoring knowledge briefs, journal articles and academic manuscripts as requested.
Responsible for managing current grant obligations and leading the development of high quality deliverables as agreed upon. Assist in the development of grant renewal and progress reports and budgets. Represent UCEA at professional convenings of current and future funders. Assist Executive Director in searching for and identifying new funding sources to support UCEA research, policy initiatives, and events.

Masters -Degree in education, public policy or related.
At least one year of project coordination or related experience.
Strong background and experience in education policy and engagement with key education stakeholders is required along with a detailed familiarity with leading education legislation. Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Ability to balance and organize numerous competing demands with a high attention to detail is required. Strong public relations and customer service skills to support the needs of UCEA members and represent the organization with professionalism are required. Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as collaborate with a diverse team are required. Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining professionalism is a must. Ability to coordinate national teams of faculty and graduate students is expected.
Must be able to work effectively within an organization that represents a wide range of people from diverse race/ethnicity, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Fluency in Qualtrics and marketing communications platforms. Extensive experience with social media applications, specifically Facebook and Twitter.
Doctorate or equivalent experience/formal training in project coordination.
Four or more years of project coordination experience
Experience working in higher education/non-profit organizations, coordinating web-based meetings/webinars, and policy experience with diversity, equity and inclusion issues.
Familiarity with educational leadership in K12 and/or higher ed.
Knowledge of project management software such as Basecamp, Microsoft Teams, or Microsoft 360
