We are currently looking for an energetic and innovative individual to fill the role of Director, Public Relations and Communication. This is a fulltime position that comes with an unmatched benefits package and a competitive salary.
This position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for effective, proactive strategic communication planning that supports cooperative Vision, Mission and Values; to ensure effective communication to inform and educate members, employees, retirees, business and community leaders, legislators, news media and general public of cooperative issues, programs and initiatives; to evaluate communication effectiveness and make recommendations for continuous improvement; to lead self-managed communication team to implement communication plans and objectives; to ensure ongoing communication team professional development and training; and to manage and communicate in a team oriented environment in accordance with the Cooperative’s mission, vision, and values.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations or equivalent is required, a Master’s degree in Communication, Business or Public Administration is preferred. An undergraduate curriculum including courses in liberal arts, business administration, psychology and sociology is particularly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) years of responsible experience in the field of communication/public relations with business or industry is required. Experience in communication planning, publications, advertising, community and media relations with a service type organization, particularly in the field of rural electrification, is also preferred.
KNOWLEDGE: Require working knowledge of principles and practices in the areas of communication strategy/planning/implementation and evaluation, writing, and media relations. Require working knowledge of photography as applied to news interest and publication. Require understanding of general business and management principles, advertising, digital media, and communication with consumers, employees, the media and the public. Require the ability to pursue a continuous program of self-development both inside and outside of work hours in furthering his/her knowledge to develop in the job and accept increasing responsibilities.
SKILLS: Require effective leadership skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a team environment. Require the ability to effectively design format, layout, edit, and publish the monthly cooperative newsletter, brochures, pamphlets, news releases, programs, and advertisements. Require the ability to do research in advertising, marketing, and member and public relations and the creative ability to design, develop, carry out, and evaluate a coordinated advertising program utilizing all practical media. Require the ability to develop and carry out effective publicity and educational services, relative to the Cooperative and its programs, involving dissemination of information to the membership, general public, media and employees.
