Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: The Student Support Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Pharmacy in the planning, development, and implementation of student services, student programs, and student recruitment (high school and college). Additional responsibilities of this position will include but not limited to, special event planning, student orientation, public relations functions, student advising and working with the Dean’s Office on special projects, preparing reports and publications, classroom support, career fairs, Admissions Committee meetings, and other programs as may be appropriate for the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, develop, and implement a variety of student services, student programs, & special projects with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dean, and other student affairs support positions.
Perform related duties as assigned or required to successful operation of the office of student affairs in the college.
Serve as liaison with student support offices, (financial aid, cashier, student health, housing, etc.) on matters pertaining to student life.
Plan and organize student orientations, career days, and career fairs. Coordinates ceremonies for the college (eg, Scholarship, Pinning, White Coat, and Graduation/Awards).
Advise students, parents, faculty advisors, guidance counselors, and businesses on educational opportunities at the College of Pharmacy.
Assist College recruitment efforts for admission of candidates to professional or post-graduate programs; represent and promote the College of Pharmacy through participation in college fairs, conferences, and other community programs; recruit high school students and attend high school recruitment activities; recruit and track potential applicants for the Direct Admission Program.
Assist in coordinating the application, interview process, and acceptance through follow-up by phone, and emails; review applications/transcripts through PharmCas and screen applicant for interview invitations for the Director of Admissions and Alumni Affairs; develop and send out all correspondences to applicants and admitted students. Assists in coordinating elective preferences and registration. Processes course drops and adds.
Counsel and advise students concerning various issues including academic, professional success and triage as needed.
Maintain database of student body by class and geographic location; track students for completion of HIPPA, Immunizations, CBC, and students with special circumstances.
Provide support to the Associate Dean and Director of Admissions and Alumni Affairs in the collection and evaluation of information pertaining to student activities and education programs, preparation of surveys, and assist in the creation of reports for accreditation or assessment of College activities.
Participate with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in a team-management approach for the Office of Pharmacy Student Services, and assist the development, monitoring, review, coordination, and implementation of college and institutional policies pertinent to academic programs and student services.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Student Personnel, Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, or other related student services field preferred. (TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years’ experience preferably in a higher education environment to include previous experience in student services/or recruitment, student advising, mentoring and academic counseling.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general academic recruitment, academic counseling procedures, college recruitment policies and procedures, and basic knowledge of distance learning concepts and technologies.
Excellent customer service skills.
Superior organizational skills, highly focused with excellent attention to detail, exceptional multi-tasking skills, and ability to work independently.
Ability to work well with internal staff and other campus offices to accomplish departmental goals.
Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Must possess strong computer skills and highly proficient in database management and web page maintenance. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
WORK SCHEDULE SOME WEEKEND, EVENING HOURS, AND TRAVEL WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
