As part of a team of general and science communications writers, the General Writer will create content for print and online, covering a broad range of needs for the Marketing & Communications Department at UCLA Health. The General Writer will report to the General Communications Editor who will work in tandem with a Scientific Communications Editor.
The General Writer will identify newsworthy, timely topics for multiple audiences within the UCLA Health community and will be able to switch between storytelling styles as required by subject matter and form of presentation. The General Writer will produce content related to the David Geffen School of Medicine, the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals and clinics, and UCLA Health’s medical research advancements.
Qualifications: 5+ years professional journalism experience, preferably in a daily publication environment. 3+ years online publication experience. Proven experience collaborating with a team of writers and editors. Proven experience working with photographers and graphic designers to create compelling storytelling packages. Demonstrated experience writing health content for a general audience. Demonstrated experience writing for an online audience.
