The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Communications and Public Affairs is currently recruiting for a Web Content Strategist . The Web Content Strategist is responsible for establishing website content strategy and adapting language and style to reflect audience-specific voice and tone. The Web Content Strategist will also be responsible for maintaining and updating websites to meet the needs of the University.

Understands the University brand and priorities and applies these goals to the planning, creation, and maintenance of content.
Develops and refines web content strategy to ensure website content aligns with the University priorities.
Adapts language and style to reflect audience-specific voice and tone.
Incorporates SEO best practices and Google Analytics metrics to improve web content.
Improves the Information Architecture by studying the site concept, strategy, and target audience.
Uses the University Content Management System (CMS) to update webpages.
Enforces web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
Helps to manage The Elm website and Elm Weekly newsletter.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Information Technology, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Graphic Design or a related field.
Equivalent of four (4) years combination of formal information systems & web education/training and/or web experience and knowledge of at least one (1) structured programming languages and relational database management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask on multiple, simultaneous projects.
Knowledge and understanding of web content best practices.
Experience with creating content for different target audiences.
Strong understanding of SEO best practices, Google Analytics, and web accessibility standards.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a plus.
Writing and editing experience as well as knowledge of Associated Press style.
