The Harvard Kennedy School is seeking a motivated, collaborative individual to enhance the School's blended learning and online teaching initiatives, and work on targeted projects for digital learning in AY2020-2021. These projects will support HKS areas and faculty across Executive Education and Degree Programs.
The Digital Learning Designer will be part of the HKS Strengthening Learning and Teaching Excellence (SLATE) group that enhances pedagogy and innovation at HKS. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Digital Learning Design, this position provides expertise and support to HKS faculty for online learning design, including the design of activities and the development of learning materials. The Digital Learning Designer will support projects for short-term online learning and longer-term use of digital assets in curriculum.
Designs online learning activities and produces online learning experiences with SLATE digital learning designers, media producers, technologists, teaching teams, and program teams.
Designs and produces online learning activities, from draft to final form, and integrates these activities into the learning management system in alignment with faculty needs.
Works with flexibility in different forms for online learning: embedded activities/tools, use of existing media, and development of new media (for example, faculty-made flipped content).
Supports digital asset management and works with a range of tools to outline, plan, and produce online learning experiences.
Ensures excellent final quality and alignment of online learning activities with the defined learning objectives and HKS standards of excellence.
Fulfills team responsibilities according to goals, schedules, and deliverables and communicates across a range of stakeholders.
Documents and contributes to the enhancement of processes and methods for online learning, and contributes to continuous improvement and scaling initiatives.
This a fully benefits-eligible term appointment ending 9 months from date of hire.

Bachelor's degree and three years related professional experience
Degree in instructional design, education, or a related field (special focus in technology and education preferred).
Prior experience with design and development of online learning experiences.
Proven understanding of tools for teaching, including emerging technologies and online learning tools. Specific experience with Canvas LMS, LTI tools, learning data, and analytics is a plus.
Experience working with faculty in a college/university setting.
Experience and interest in teaching and adult learning.
Comfortable using productivity software and project management tools.
Ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced, ever-changing team environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and project management skills, especially attention to detail to quality-check own work.
