The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism seeks to hire an Associate Director of Career Development to join a dynamic team, providing exceptional career services to 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled within the school, as well as young alumni.
The Associate Director will work in close partnership with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs & Director of Career Development to support the successful delivery of career education, career advising, and employer engagement programming and initiatives.
Provide leadership and supervision to three full time career staff members
Advise students and alumni on an individual bases regarding career issues and strategies, job search methods, resume preparation, internship, job placement and related matters
Develop, manage and oversee department budget, process travel reimbursements, vendor payments and other budget related functions
Oversee/lead various data collection/assessment projects for department
Manage various on campus employer engagement programs, including on campus interviews, company information sessions and two large scale career fairs annually
Attending various meetings with key stakeholders and represent Career Development Collaborate with Alumni Relations to develop and execute strategies to identify opportunities to increase alumni engagement with career related programming
Oversee and manage career services operations functions including career center operations, social media & marketing, data analysis & technology.
Maintain awareness of hiring trends and use information to improve the effectiveness of the Career Development office
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or equivalent 5-7 year's experience in career services or human resources preferred. Experience working in higher education a plus, but not required.
At least 2 years experience managing full time staff
Experience developing and executing strategies to deliver results.
Strong report writing skills required
Demonstrated excitement and commitment to the career development of undergraduate and graduate students
A high level of professionalism with strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills required.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, meet deadlines and achieve goals.
Ability to occasionally travel locally or nationally to employer locations, conferences or other relevant events required.
