About the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Manager

The successful candidate will bring non-profit marketing and communications experience to this growing position. Your expertise will be relied upon to help Houston Children’s Charity develop a new area of the organization. Working closely with the President & CEO, Administrative Director and Programs Managers, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Marketing, Communications, Social Media and Public Relations needs including the following tasks:  

1. Creation / Implementation of overall Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Strategic Plan for Houston Children’s Charity

2. Support for President & CEO
   1. Send press releases at the direction of the President & CEO
   2. Assist with Press Conferences at the direction of the President & CEO including media packets, calling press, live tweeting, live Facebook and Instagram - taking photos and branding our work with the community
   3. Showcase Houston Children’s Charity daily success stories via newsletters, eBlasts, social media – Facebook and Twitter and all other creative means

3. Writing
   1. Talking points for the President & CEO as needed
   2. Editorial pieces for Houston Children’s Charity for on-line and print
   3. Newsletter for Houston Children’s Charity and all the programs within
   4. Creation and execution of eBlasts including – monthly eBlasts that focuses on events, Houston Children’s Charity in the Community, and any other possible information that can increase Houston Children’s Charity’s visibility in the community
   5. Other marketing editorial pieces as needed

4. Press / Media / Marketing
   1. Creating overall marketing calendar
   2. Manage all aspects of internal and external marketing, communications and public relations
   3. Pitching Houston Children’s Charity stories to media, TV, radio, digital and editorial
   4. Pitching and creating Houston Children’s Charity PSAs, ads on-line and in print and billboards
   5. Creating Houston Children’s Charity collateral pieces for individual programs

5. Social Media / Website
   1. Maintaining social media; using tags and hashtags as necessary; increase Houston Children’s Charity followers; tweet live from events when appropriate
   2. Creating content information users want – ie, upcoming events on Facebook
   3. Maintaining Houston Children’s Charity website
   4. Maintaining Houston Children’s Charity blog either by contributing articles, tagging articles and/or securing 3^rd party writers
   5. Maintain online statistics as related to website, eblasts and social media
   6. Manage / highlight partners for website and email
   7. Solicit media ambassadors where possible

6. Events Support
   1. Writing editorial for programs
   2. Working on event videos
   3. Working on all event invites, printing needs, mailing, etc.
   4. Writing event talking points
   5. Hiring photographer – shot list, photos printed after event
   6. Work with President & CEO on pre and post photos for all media and press
   7. Work all Houston Children’s Charity events as needed

7. Program Support
   1. Assist Program Manager in communicating, highlighting and promoting the programs in the community  
   2. Speak / Display at local schools, events, companies as requested for HCC Community Outreach

8. Young Houstonians for Houston Children’s Charity – liaison to group and HCC

9. Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO
