GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the part-time Tech Specialist acts as the first point of contact for internal and external groups using Ballantyne Auditorium and coordinates the scheduling and technical support of events in Ballantyne. Also provides box office supervision on performance dates, and supports the Arts and Humanities faculty. This individual must exercise a high degree of independent judgment and decision-making with the assigned duties, be able to prioritize, have excellent computer and technical skills and be able to work with diverse personalities in the department and throughout the college and community. Confidentiality is essential. Some evening and weekend work required.

Supervise part-time Ballantyne Technicians.
Assess the technical needs of the clients, explain the technical functionality available within Ballantyne, and then arrange for one of the techs to cover the event.
Provide technical support to internal and external groups using Ballantyne Auditorium including trouble-shooting issues when Ballantyne Technician needs extra help or is not available
Maintain effective and efficient flow of information through calendars, notes, phone call, memos, e-mail and correspondence.
Coordinate publicity for performing arts events.
Provide box office supervision on performance dates (requires some evenings and weekends)
Answer phones and greet visitors, process incoming and out-going mail, schedule meetings and appointments. Direct walk-in traffic to all areas of the college.
Listen to and direct communications and requests from faculty, staff, students, and the public relating to department business and take appropriate action to refer such communications and/or requests.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Deal effectively and courteously with a wide variety of constituencies, and in a very service-oriented manner, thinking systematically.

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of general office procedures, effective telephone techniques and office equipment.

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
Any combination of clerical and/or post-high school training equivalent to three years of experience OR an appropriate Associate degree.
Strong technology skills, phone skills, excellent computer skills, strong ability to learn new software, and ability to organize and maintain databases required.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Experience in the performing arts and/or media support highly desired.
Experience with theatrical lighting and audio systems and knowledge of the performing arts is highly desired.
