Responsible for providing career counseling, job placement, and internship preparation in an academic environment. Responsible for coordinating program activities, recruiting prospective employers, coordinating placement of student workers with local businesses, maintaining a collaborative relationship with college departments, advisory board, and faculty. Evening and weekends as needed.
Coordinates operations, development, growth, quality, and sustainability of the Cooperative Education program
Coordinates program planning and development
Evaluates program effectiveness
Develops promotional literature/materials, training plans and instructional materials, resources for students, faculty, and staff
Provides training/workshops on variety of related topics
Promotes program on-/off-campus; ensures academic integrity and relevancy by working with and involving faculty, staff and students
Works to strengthen links with community agencies, business and industry.
Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, advisory board members, students, faculty members, alumni, counselors, other academic institutions, local businesses, employment agencies, professional organizations, community organizations, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems
Coordinates placement of student interns with local businesses
Recruits prospective employers, works with employers to develop job placement opportunities for students
Recruits students and screens for program eligibility
Collects data on students and employers
Provides a link between employers and students in program
Supports employers in their cooperative partnerships
Prepares employers/mentors to work with students
Matches/places students with employers and available positions
Visiting work sites; evaluates work-based learning at work site
Provides career counseling and support for students
Matches students with suitable work-learning experiences
Prepares employees for work situations
Provides motivation and support for students new to the job market
Performs follow-up to track student progress
Performs administrative tasks associated with division activities
Prepares promotional/recruitment publications and training/instructional materials
Prepares newsletter articles, statistical reports, grant proposals, position papers, employer profiles, job postings, job analyses, incident reports, agendas, meeting minutes, presentations, handbooks, listings, reports, forms, and general correspondence
Receives or refers to enrollment reports, statistical reports, evaluations, surveys, budget reports, attendance reports, time sheets, policies, guides, newspapers, listings, directories, catalogs, manuals, and reference materials
Operates a computer and utilizes word processing, database, or other software programs
Supervision Received: Reports to the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs or designee.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Human Resources, or closely related field
Three (3) years' experience and/or training that includes career counseling, job placement, human resource management, recruitment, marketing, or public relations
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license
Salary determined according to the Guidelines and structure of the collective agreement (MCCC) for the Grade 4. Competitive benefits package.
