Wheaton College, a leading liberal arts college located in Norton, Massachusetts, has an immediate opening for a Director of Athletics Communications. This is a full-time benefit-eligible position.
The primary responsibility of the Director of Athletics Communications is to promote and publicize Wheaton College Athletics and its 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate varsity programs through traditional and new media techniques by establishing and maintaining a network of contacts with local, regional and national news media; and serving as liaison for same. Serve in an administrative capacity as needed and directed by the Athletic Administration. Comply with all NCAA Division III, NEWMAC and Wheaton College rules and regulations.

Individuals must have a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field, plus a minimum of two years experience in sports information or collegiate media relations.
Must possess outstanding oral and verbal communications skills, excellent organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects simultaneously. Experience with desktop publishing, statistical software programs, web publishing, word processing, and other relevant computer applications is essential. Must be able to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends from September through May to accomplish tasks necessary for success.
Master’s Degree with 3-5 years of Athletics Communication experience at the collegiate level preferred.
Individuals must possess the skills and abilities or be able to perform responsibilities commonly associated with this position. Such demands include but are not limited to standing and sitting for long periods of time and well as set up game facilities with a variety of equipment that requires lifting and climbing. The successful candidate will perform all other essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
