The Executive & Communications Specialist for the Department of Family Medicine will oversee daily and long-range activities and projects for the Department Chair, Division Chief of Geriatrics and Chief Administrative Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for various duties including executive support for department leadership, development of department communications, and serve as a project manager on various initiatives. Incumbent must use independent judgement and have a high level of organizational skills as this position, under general supervision, handles sensitive and confidential executive level correspondence including but limited to, patient care, department management, and research. The applicant must possess solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, having a keen awareness of organizational politics, tact and diplomacy. Incumbent will service as the public relations contact for all department matters and represent the department at various meetings. Incumbent will manage all community outreach efforts and will engage in various community projects to build external relationships. The Executive & Communications Specialist will provide executive level administrative support to the Chair, Chief and CAO in the department.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
