Assist the Associate Athletic Director Athletic Communications and his staff of Assistant Directors and communications interns with all aspects of the University’s Athletic Communications program which supports 17 NCAA Division I sports. Essential tasks include but not be limited to: performing day to day ever increasing social media initiatives for the entire athletic department to include posting diversified content and developing strategies to improve user engagement and drive enhanced actions across all current and emerging social media channels; create, enhance and maintain a social media calendar for both short term initiatives and long term campaigns; stay apprised of emerging social media technologies, trends and industry news; evaluate current social media channels utilized by organization in addition to potential channels that could be added as technology improves; increase overall social media presence for athletics and the University; develop, manage and maintain monitoring and analytics systems to track social media engagement and results; continually develop communication pieces in support of Blue Raider Athletic initiatives as required or assigned; write, edit and produce content for the athletic blogs associated with each team, including feature stories, breaking news, newspaper columns, game notes, etc. The incumbent will assist with the enhancement and maintenance of the MT Athletic Department Web site (goblueraiders.com) as well as the oversight and enhancement of all athletic photography needs for the athletic department which will consist of all team head shots, action shots, special request projects and feature story photo projects as well as specialty photo projects. The position will also develop and propose graphic designs for all athletic media projects to include social media content, posters, media guides, magnet cards and ticket brochures of ticketed sports, and other designs needed by the department. The position will also serve as the primary photographer for the athletic department, including all studio, specialty, event and live game photography. Take photos for assigned athletic events, printed materials, video boards and media outlets and perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director Athletic Communications and the Director of Athletics as well as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications who assist athletics with special projects related to athletics and the University.
Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in English, Communications, Public Relations and/ or Marketing preferred. One (1) year progressively responsible experience in media relations, social media, writing and editing skills as well as development of graphics for social media platforms, photography or comparable experience required.
