The ideal candidate is highly motivated, able to work well as part of a collaborative team and possesses a combination of communication, marketing, creative and analytical skills. This position is heavily focused on increasing audience engagement and reach for news and other content developed and distributed by University Communications. This position is responsible for both building audiences and engagement and measuring audience size, engagement and reach for University Communication content.
Key areas of responsibility include assessing the performance of various media and public relations tactics and content through the development of evidence-based measurement techniques; as well as leading efforts around search engine optimization, social media strategy and tactics and overall digital and content strategy for Ohio State's news program. This individual will help administrators set goals for University Communications content, and will be required to maintain an extensive knowledge of digital trends and an understanding of how to best apply them to Ohio State's news program.
This position also plays a critical role in identifying newsworthy stories and determining the best method and format for delivering them, along with aggregating content from university colleges and units for publication on University Communications' media platforms. This individual must exercise excellent editorial judgement to coordinate coverage, placement and timing of news for Ohio State.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience; a minimum of five years of experience in news writing and editing, content strategy and developing and assessing metrics; proven experience and success in search engine optimization; demonstrated experience in producing compelling social media, digital content and implementing multimedia technology; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Seven years of managing data and metrics across multiple platforms; demonstrated ability to use metrics to increase audience engagement and reach; HTML ability; In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as an essential position.
Target Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 Annually
