The Chason Group (www.thechasongroup.com) has been engaged to lead an executive search for a professional to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer for the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce in Jonesboro, Georgia, which is a part of metropolitan Atlanta. Tim Chason and Randy Cardoza are working with the organization’s leadership to coordinate the search.
About the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. Founded in 1953, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce is the community’s leading business organization. Through its membership, the chamber advocates responsible growth and enhances the overall business climate in the area. The organization has a budget of nearly $500,000. There are over 6,000 businesses in the area.
The Community. Clayton County is a major component of the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county has a population of over 285,000 citizens according to the latest US Census data. Interstate 75, a major north / south corridor, dissects the county and is one of the primary reasons for growth in the areas of entrepreneurship, retail, support services, manufacturing and professionals.
Located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, the community has a median age of 32.4.

The Position. The President and Chief Executive Officer of the chamber is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the non-profit business organization. Financial growth and management, talent development, and innovative strategic planning and implementation are also key responsibilities of the president. The executive reports to the executive committee and board of directors through an annually elected chair.
Key Attributes. The Search Committee for the chamber is seeking a professional who has the understanding of how a business-focused non-profit organization functions and its importance to the success of a community. Leadership, strategic planning, staff development, communications (written, verbal and social media), team building, professionalism and business knowledge are key attributes required for the position.
Requirements. Candidates applying for the president’s position should hold a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree desired, in the area(s) of public relations, association management, business and/or marketing from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
