Create and maintain a review schedule to ensure upper level university, college, departmental and other areas of the website containing public-facing information are current and appropriate, specifically including the Radford.edu homepage and core pages. Develop, build and update webpages for University Relations and other top level departmental websites as required, including President's office, Highlanders Festival, Radford University Carilion, Strategic Planning and others. Assess graphic imagery (still imagery and video), as well as text content, to ensure consistency with University branding, accuracy and timeliness. Responsible for developing and building electronic corresponsence including emails and evites for University Relations and the President’s Office, and occasionally other University departments. Assist with strategic social media planning and monitoring, review web analytics including Google Analytics and maintaining Google Tag Manager for university marketing functions. Will possess superior web editing and writing skills. Serve as a consultant to campus departments regarding strategies and approaches necessary to redesign websites, build newsletters and other electronic communication. Build and execute a wide variety of electronic communications for University Relations and other departments including the President's office on a regular basis. Develop and recommend engaging and dynamic social media strategies; produce relevant content for social media sites; ensure all social media platforms are timely, updated and maintained consistently to maintain a positive online presence; supervise social media intern(s); provide guidance to university departments and users on the appropriate and effective use of social media; and utilize available industry-standard. Under the guidance and leadership of the Director of Digital Communications and Marketing, develop and recommend engaging and dynamic social media strategies; produce relevant content for social media sites; ensure all social media platforms are timely, updated and maintained consistently to maintain a positive online presence; supervise social media intern(s); provide guidance to University departments and users on the appropriate and effective use of social media; and utilize available industry-standard analytics to assess effectiveness of social media campaigns. Provide individualized CMS and electronic communication training by request for departments. Provide campus-wide CMS training sessions for site owners and authors. Work with leadership team and other University offices to develop new approaches for the creation and distribution of digital communication to promote institutional advancement and brand objectives. Duties may require occasional evening, after-hours or weekend work, including on-call in the event of emergency communications.
Required Qualifications Demonstrated superior writing, editing and proofreading skills. Considerable experience in writing/editing web content. Familiarity with news writing and journalistic standards such as AP style. Ability to pick out strong visual elements to complement text. Experience in communication strategy and theory in support of an organization. Must have demonstrated aptitude with basic HTML, content management systems and how they work, and search engine optimization. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, graphics programs such as Photoshop, and proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity embedding video and static graphic content into webpages. Ability to interpret brand and graphic identity standards and implement them in own produced work and with sub-unit clients. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with people of all professional levels.
Experience with Adobe content management systems. Work experience designing, developing and managing complex websites in a large, dispersed organization helpful. Experience providing training to web content authors. Experience collaborating with graphic designers and news writers and multimedia producers to create products. Experience using social media and creating campaigns.
