The Individual Giving Officer (IGO) reports to the Director of Individual Giving and works closely with other colleagues on the Individual Giving and Research and Analytics teams to discover, verify, and engage a prospect pool at the Society giving level ($3,000 and more) for multiple fundraising efforts in support of the orchestra’s endowment, capital, special projects, and operating goals. The IGO will focus on Tanglewood prospects who live in the Western MA, CT, NY and FL territories and will need to relocate to Tanglewood (in Lenox, MA) between July and August.
In this dynamic position, the IGO is a team player partnering with volunteers, board members, and staff colleagues to build relationships that will result in an increasing number of gifts of $3,000 and more for Tanglewood. The successful candidate will forward BSO’s mission with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy and outstanding customer service skills.
Collaborate with the development team to achieve its long- and short-term growth goals
Initiate and conduct personal meetings to verify affinity and capacity for Society-level giving ($3,000 and more)
In partnership with Associate Director of Individual Giving, Manager – Friends Program and Direct Fundraising, and others as appropriate, create and implement strategies and tactics for discovering, verifying, and engaging a Society-level prospect donor pool
Once defined as a segment (identification and research work of current prospect pool is already underway) and when appropriate, solicit a prospective Society-level donor pool
In coordination with Individual Giving Officers and other Development colleagues, manage a portfolio of qualified individual donors to increase their current giving
Consistently use “Plans”, the moves management segment of BSO’s CRM, Tessitura, to document activity and results in a timely manner and participate in quarterly metric review meetings
Assist with analysis to measure the efficiencies and effectiveness of strategies and tactics
Meet quarterly program goals which are set annually
Passion for relationship-building work
Comfortable with initiating conversation and authentically listening
Ability to joyfully work with accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Interest and/or background in the arts
Minimum of three years face to face fundraising experience
Tracking relationship-building steps in a CRM; Tessitura user preferred
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and achieve goals
Attend evening concerts, dinners, and other engagement events on weekday evenings and weekends to meet with donors and prospects
Relocation each summer to Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) from late June – August
Travel to Western MA, CT, NY and FL territories as necessary
