This position will provide systems and equipment management for high fidelity simulations and adapt emerging technologies to meet the educational needs of the nursing department. Responsible for supporting the technological aspects of realistic, highly complex clinical scenarios using sophisticated equipment and software. Assist simulation team members in running clinical simulation that meets curriculum goals and produces measurable outcomes. Support inter-professional simulation learning experiences among diverse MSMU academic departments. Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of complex high and low fidelity simulation equipment, as well as the identification and troubleshooting of problems with the equipment, in concert with the equipment manufacturer and the Mount OIT department. Ensure the appropriate video-recording and playback equipment is available and operational for debriefing after simulations. Ensure that the Nursing Simulation Laboratory has required equipment and supplies to meet faculty and student needs for objectives and content for courses that use high fidelity simulation and standardized patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide systems and equipment purchasing, management and repair for complex high and low fidelity clinical simulations.
Program software to model simulators' physiological responses in complex scenarios developed with faculty and the Simulation Director.
Research and adapt emerging technologies to meet the educational needs of students and faculty.
Support the technological aspects of realistic, highly complex scenarios using sophisticated hardware and software.
Assist faculty and simulation team with high fidelity simulations with simulation.
Ensure that the instructional media equipment such as video cameras, multimedia computer systems, and audio and video distribution systems are appropriate and functional at all times.
Project, order, and maintain equipment and supplies from vendors that are needed for high and low fidelity simulations.
Maintain records of simulation exercises as appropriate.
Attend meetings to maintain currency with simulation scenarios, technology, and their use.
Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment, catalogs, and operation manuals.
Assist with training faculty in the use of high and low fidelity equipment and debriefing.
Ensure a safe laboratory environment.
Participate in public relations duties including tours and demonstrations in the simulation area.
Provide training and direction to student workers and volunteers in the simulation area.
Serve as the liaison with the Mount IT department and the equipment manufacturers as it relates to simulation.
Demonstrate effective teamwork and team membership and support inter-professional simulation learning experiences including other Mount program faculty and students.
Display a high degree of initiative, energy, dedication, and innovation on a regular basis.
Adhere to all protocols and curricular requirements approved by the faculty.
Work with the simulation team to maintain and improve a simulation evaluation program.
Work with faculty to schedule simulations.
In collaboration with faculty and staff, debriefs scenarios using best practice methods.
Gives input as a simulation team member on simulation program policies and procedures.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Participate in committee work of the department as requested.

Minimum required qualifications for education and experience:
High School Diploma or GED
EMT, EMT-P, or other health related education/certification
Demonstrated knowledge of computer operations to include hard- and software
Demonstrated ability to operate low to high fidelity equipment
Preferred qualifications for education and experience:
Associate or higher degree in a health or related field
Two years applied educational technology or health care experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education demonstrating the ability to develop, implement, and adapt educational technologies.
