The communications specialist leads the execution of key communication strategies to ensure effective and timely implementation, targeting, and “on-message” content and tone. This position manages quality assurance all outbound recruitment communications, and utilize CRM technology to facilitate the sending of all outbound recruitment emails. It also ensures that communications are error-free and meet the brand and customer service standards set by the Office of Admissions. The position also manages admission related communications support for the University’s recruitment and enrollment efforts. Communications must be strategic, on-message, on-time, error and issue free, and targeted to the correct audiences.
This position understands the outcomes that the University is striving to achieve, then creates and implements operational plans which guide the office towards the most strategic solutions, charting the course between the current state and the future state. It ensures that communications are error-free and meet the brand and customer service standards set by the Office of Admissions. It tracks and ensures timely and effective implementation of freshman and international application and admission-related communications.
•Develops communication and marketing plans for events and enrollment steps that are in line with a greater department communications and/or marketing strategy.
•Creates specialized materials for marketing, publication, and/or public or internal relations that incorporate both written and graphic work, and may utilize multiple media methods. Manage partnerships with key vendors (printing services, graphic design services, and addressing and mailing services) to achieve communications objectives in support departmental goals.
•Identifies and initiates the development of materials to promote and reinforce the strategic communication plan.
•Proofreads content and screens for grammar, spelling, usage, clarity, and accuracy.
•Plans, directs, implements, and evaluates promotion, fund raising, sales and/or marketing programs.
•Identifies promotional or advertising opportunities, analyzes existing markets; coordinates and monitors the use of brands.
•Analyzes web usage to identify trends in new media communication tools and social media.
•Manages content on the Admissions website; with programmer to ensure website content is accurate, compelling, up-to-date, and accessible across multiple platforms. Monitors website google analytics and uses the information to improve the visitor’s experience.
•Completes projects using constituent relationship management (CRM) technology, including student information, email marketing, outreach calling, and other platforms as needed.
Internal Stakeholder Alignment 20% This position communicates with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners. Seeking input on those communications as necessary, and achieve appropriate tone when communicating information and requests to staff at all levels of the Office of Admissions. It leads the development, documentation, and implementation of several admissions policies and procedures, such as high school graduation and deadline processing and protocols.

Required Qualifications: •Requires bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Art or related field plus 2 years professional experience, or 6 years combined equivalent education and experience. •Requires experience in an email marketing platform and/or customer relationship management (CRM) technology. •Requires experience managed or written content for publication or public distribution. •Requires hands on quality assurance experience in communications implementation work. •Communications project management experience or project lead experience using project management skills ( i.e. planning, project updates, budgets and timeline management) •Must have the ability to work as a team lead and serve effectively to recommend work assignments and direct work to entry level staff/student employees as needed. Assist with interviewing peer applicants as needed, evaluate the work of assigned project team ensuring quality assurance is being met as charged.
Preferred Qualifications: •Google analytics management and implementation of insights within a website. •Website content development experience.
