Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Edit/Media Assistant for the Graduate School. Reporting to the Associate Dean with a dotted line to the Dean of the Graduate School at Rutgers University–Newark.
The Edit/Media Assistant duties will include but are not limited to: -Assists with the execution of communications, marketing, and publicity strategies in support of the GS-N and its programs, organizations, initiatives, conferences, and events through traditional and emerging media channels. -Responsible for generating pitches, facilitating stories, content, and marketing collateral that produces positive interest in GS-N. -Responsible for developing and optimizing social media plans for the GS-N that are consistent and cohesive across social media platforms. -Regularly conducts research and produces performance and other reports, and provides data analysis. -Manages numerous projects simultaneously and delivers a professional product on deadline. -This role will partner and provide event, marketing, and social media support and coordination to all GS-N initiatives, including but not limited to its fellowship programs, undergraduate summer research initiative, commencement, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates general knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, copyediting, proofreading, print production, promotional advertising, organization, coordination, and/or facilitation. Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires excellent technical skills; excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with a variety of situations with discretion and confidentiality; and the ability to capture and edit digital assets.
-3-5 years of Editorial experience in the strategic use of social media in public relations -Experience within Higher Education, Communications, and Journalism -Experience with Social Media Marketing and Strategy -Knowledge of strategic use of social media platforms as related to institutional communications -Familiarity with Rutgers University Style Guide preferred. -Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and ability to work effectively with individuals or groups with diverse backgrounds. -Will have experience in working in a fast-paced, professional office environment.
