The President & CEO is responsible for working collaboratively with Board of Directors to effectively lead CARE of Southeastern Michigan and implement its mission. The CEO is ultimately responsible for ensuring the financial, marketing, fundraising, public relations, human resources, technology, program, and operations strategies are in place to effectively carry out CARE's mission of service to the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision and Leadership
Collaborate with the Board of Directors, leadership team, staff, and stakeholders to implement CARE's strategic plan and overall mission.
Provide inspirational leadership to all executives and leaders within the organization and develop the leadership pipeline at CARE. Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board of Directors.
Support the development of a culture of philanthropy at CARE.
Lead the agency's development efforts in partnership with the Board of Directors and Chief Development Officer that will increase revenue for the organization.
Ensure CARE's programs are of high quality and are designed to meet current community needs.
Support the development of new programs to respond to community needs.
Complete requests for proposals and grant applications to acquire funding for new programs.
Fiscal and Compliance
Ensure CARE is in compliance with all federal, state, local, and grantor financial regulations and requirements.
Manage the organization's overall budget ($7 million).
Ensure there is are the financial resources to support CARE's programming, grants, earned income, and fundraising
Act as the lead spokesperson for CARE. Leads advocacy efforts related to CARE's mission.
Develops and sustains relationships with community partners and leaders including elected officials, funders, donors, and other community leaders.
Sits on multiple coalitions, committees, and community groups to further CARE's mission.
Conducts media interviews. Presents to community about CARE's mission.
Master's Degree in administration, human services, business, or related field.
At least 10-15 years of overall professional work experience.
At least 5 years of leadership experience, including managing teams.
At least 5 years of experience in the behavioral health and substance use disorder field is strongly preferred.
Prior nonprofit management, including in behavioral health field, is preferred.
Prior fiscal management, including grants management, is required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders is required
