The Department of Public Administration at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) seeks an innovative and passionate educator to join our NASPAA (Network of Schools of Public Affairs, Policy, and Administration) accredited team as Department Chair and MPA Director with tenure and rank (Full or Associate Professor) beginning August 2020. The Department has a strong commitment to public service values, ethical behavior, shared governance, diversity and student learning.
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) is one of the premier graduate programs at CSUSB, with over 250 students, and one of the top MPA programs in the California State University system. We also administer an undergraduate concentration of approximately 90 students.
The Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC), is accredited by NASPAA and AACSB, and consists of five academic departments: Accounting and Finance, Information and Decision Sciences, Management, Marketing, and Public Administration.
We seek a strong leader to manage our highly successful department in a dynamic environment with diverse faculty who are heavily engaged in service to the university and the community. While we are a teaching institution, Public Administration faculty are particularly active in their research areas.

Typical Activities The successful candidate will:
Create and maintain PA course schedules and teaching assignments;
Manage department activities and administration;
Oversee Graduate and Undergraduate Programs and supervise their Coordinators;
Supervise and assist in branding and marketing the MPA Program;
Mentor and develop Public Administration faculty and staff;
Supervise and develop part-time faculty;
Manage Public Administration internet presence and public relations efforts;
Build and maintain engagements with alumni and the regional community;
Maintain excellent relations across the College and the University;
Attend various leadership functions;
Teach one class per term and a professional development seminar for students;
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications A Ph . D. in Public Administration or a related field is required by time of appointment.
Demonstrated administrative experience in working effectively with faculty, scheduling, and budgeting;
Demonstrated excellence in collegiate teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level;
A mature and developed research and publication record;
Demonstrated commitment to working with underrepresented groups;
Demonstrated commitment to community engagement.
Experience working with underrepresented groups
Experience as a government or non-profit practitioner.
Experience with hybrid and online instruction
Experience mentoring faculty
Experience with NASPAA accreditation
