GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Business Analyst, under the direction of the Assistant Comptroller, assists the Assistant Comptroller and Comptroller in maintaining the integrity of the College's financial records. The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and maintaining the college's credit card and travel card systems and variety of accounting duties associated with reporting of financial data, in accordance with the applicable accounting, industry, regulatory and institutional principles and policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for monitoring, analyzing and reconciliation of the College's Travel Card System.
Responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of the College's Credit Card activity.
Responsible for the monthly analysis and reconciliation of College's state 901 reporting.
Perform accounting duties for the Middlesex Community College Foundation.
Responsible for research and maintenance the College's outstanding Accounts Payable checks database.
Prepare financial reports and ad hoc reports using Microsoft Access and the College's reporting tool.
Performs accounting for the College's Financial Aid accounts.
Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of the College's grant accounts.
Prepare detailed schedules and items required as part of the MCC audits and in the "audit documentation listing (PBC List)."
Post electronic journal entries, miscellaneous cash disbursements, and miscellaneous cash receipts.
Assist in Finance projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required plus a minimum of five (5) year's of experience in Higher Education or related field.
Thorough knowledge of state and college accounting practices and procedures.
Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the College with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of college activities.
Ability to recognize College-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment.
Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing including following and communicating College policy and procedures.
Establish positive public relations and interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
Cultural competency with and/or knowledge working with people of diverse backgrounds such as socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religion, veterans, race and ethnicity, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Working knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment including the use of computers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and automated financial systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, QuickBooks and Banner ERP system.
Master's degree in a related field.
This is a full-time non-unit administrative position under the Non-Unit Personnel Policies Handbook.
Salary Range: $61,000 to $73,000 per year. Actual salary dependent on education and experience (Grade 6).
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to the Lowell campus and to off-campus sites
