The University of Iowa Center for Advancement (UICA) is seeking a director of annual giving. This position develops and implements strategies to secure philanthropic support for University of Iowa fundraising priorities, and collaborates with colleagues to implement strategic approaches to increase the donor base and build a robust pipeline for major gift support for the university.
Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, negotiates, and stewards leadership annual gifts in the range of $1,000 to $49,999, and manages prospect disposition for the best on-going philanthropic support of the university. Collaborates with major gift teams by receiving leadership annual giving prospect referrals and, when appropriate, moving prospects to the major gift team
Develops and executes short and long-range strategic plans for leadership giving including direct mail, portfolio management, and personal outreach (solicitation and stewardship)
Works with AVP Annual giving Programs to provide budget and performance projections
Creates, monitors, and analyzes performance of select annual giving programs. Uses internal annual trend analysis and benchmarking reports to evaluate annual acquisition, retention, reactivation, and upgrade strategy effectiveness
Evaluates performance and cost effectiveness of individual segments within solicitations and projects performance for future solicitations
Works with outside vendors and internal teams in developing timely, high-impact solicitations for targeted segments and audiences on behalf of the university
In coordination with the Stewardship Team, plans and implements strategies for donor stewardship for assigned constituent areas
Provides supervision to two project coordinators and a full-time, temporary fellow within the Annual Giving team. Manages all aspects of the employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through separation. Creates a work environment that is consistent with UICA mission/vision and that emphasizes our organizational culture and values
Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience required. Driver's license required.
