The Infrastructure Project Manager TVC (IPM) will support Google's Energy & Location Strategy (ELS) Portfolio Management Team. The mission of ELS is to provide data center production capacity, anywhere in the world, in a time frame that meets Google's needs.
The successful candidate will support site development and portfolio management for both new and existing data center sites and related utility infrastructure delivery. Job Description / Responsibilities:
Learns and applies applicable ELS policies and demonstrates understanding of Google's Data Center & ELS guidelines and procedures, such as change control, risk management, and document/records management.
Collaborates with Portfolio Manager (PfM) and guides/informs/educates/makes aware project team members in meeting documented processes, procedures, or guidelines.
Project Support & Coordination
Manages the project team to resolve outstanding issues with the project.
Facilitates project meetings by creating and managing necessary documents, i.e., agenda, action item log, decision log.
Attends meetings as appropriate and follows up on key issues with team members.
In the event of a PfM's absence, the PC may lead/facilitate meetings to ensure that scheduled meetings proceed accordingly without impacting the project schedule.
Develops first draft deliverables for PfM review, which includes obtaining and incorporating stakeholder input, collaborates during editing with PfM, and finalizes for senior manager/executive-level presentation and decision making.
Adjusts/tailors project tasks as applicable to assigned project's execution strategy.
May act as point of contact on behalf of PfM to interface with various internal subject matter functions (e.g., Construction, Environmental Services, Public Affairs, Legal, Engineering, Acquisition, Site Operations, etc.) and when appropriate, external agencies/customers (local/state/federal regulatory agencies, cities/counties and other local Authorities Holding Jurisdiction (AHJ)) to accomplish project goals.
Orchestrates timely communications among project team members, which can include identifying, creating, and updating project resources/tools (e.g., change control log, risk registry, Smartsheet schedules, or other designated project management tools etc.) used by team members so that appropriate actions are taken.
Drives project activities as appropriate, with PfM oversight, ensuring adequate levels of project resources to meet deliverable deadlines.
Administers project documentation and document control systems, which includes processes for the receipt, review, approval, issue, reproduction, distribution, version control, classification, storage/retrieval, access privileges, and retention of project-related files and documents.
Manages and/or supports ad-hoc assignments to accomplish project goals and/or for developmental purposes

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime.
Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
Manages 3rd party project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team). Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University in a technical area of study such as engineering, science, economics, public administration and/or equivalent practical experience .
Minimum six (6) years of related experience and/or training.
3 years' experience in land development including: energy, utility or construction related fields
3 years' experience in a project manager role; with experience directing project initiatives, administering contracts & agreements, and facilitating meeting
Prior experience in a supervisory position (direct report responsibilities) required if specific duties include direct report responsibilities.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.
