Reporting to the director of web services, the web front-end designer/developer designs and programs high-level solutions that support the university's digital presence not limited to landing pages, HTML emails, icons, digital ads, and more. As a member of the web services office, the font-end designer/developer champions, encourages, and supports content managers to follow best practices as well as the university's web policies and standards. Bachelor’s degree in web design, graphic design, communications or related field, and three years of professional experience designing and programming websites, digital assets and other related communication assets.
A strong online portfolio available for review.
Basic knowledge of dynamic scripting languages and databases such as PHP and MySQL.
Experience designing, developing and implementing solutions inside a content management system (CMS) such as Drupal, CraftCMS, WordPress etc.
Understanding of contemporary web design trends as well as the techniques and the functional processes required to execute them.
Familiarity with usability testing, and working knowledge of ADA-web compliance guidelines.
Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.
Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision, UXPin, Quartz etc. Ability to prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), and web analytic tools such as Google Analytics.
Fundamental knowledge of Gulp, SASS, NPM, NodeJS, Git or other version-control software, etc.
Expert understanding of Drupal database structure and schema.
Expert knowledge of Drupal 7 & 8 theme development.
Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.
Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations.
Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations.
