The Social Media & Public Relations Intern will assist with all aspects of marketing and public relations for North Central Texas College including: writing and distributing news releases, media relations, social media, copy-writing for publications, and event promotion.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Compose smart, engaging social media messages for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Develop and write accurate and effective news releases, articles and announcements.
Conduct research and interviews, take photos, and create digital content for use on website, social media, and other locations.
Assist in strategic planning for public relations and marketing campaigns.
Regular office hours are Monday through Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-noon. Summer hours are 7:30am-5:30pm Mon-Thurs & closed on Fridays. Employee required to travel between campuses as necessary. This is a part-time internship position that works no more than 19 hours per week. Subject to criminal background check. Resume required in addition to application. Pay: $10/Hour. High School Diploma required. Currently pursuing a degree in journalism, public relations or related communications program at an accredited college or university; OR pursuing a bachelor's degree in related field.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Able to work at 19 hours per week.
Able to attend college and community events outside normal business hours.
Must be detail oriented, creative and have strong organizational skills.
Able to operate a digital camera.
Knowledge of AP style.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and applications.
This job will require occasional travel between our Gainesville and Denton County Campuses.
One year of experience in social media management, public relations, or journalism preferred.
