The Videographer will be a key brand storyteller who will create video content and supporting graphics to share Miami University's student, faculty and community stories to help market and elevate the University’s reputation and brand. The ideal candidate is an eager, resourceful and creative video producer experienced in pursuing and developing original ideas to meet various marketing and communications goals. Reporting to the director of creative services, the Videographer collaborates with the creative services and marketing teams, as well as other on-campus entities to develop and execute forward-thinking visual solutions that engage target audiences. This position must know new trends in video production and incorporate those trends into video content while keeping up-to-date with video styles unique to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and video streaming. The Videographer must be open to inspiration from others to enhance the team's overall creativity. This position demonstrates a high level of creative talent and expertise in all aspects of videography, including planning, concept and message development, shooting, editing, post-production and asset management. The Videographer should be comfortable multitasking and meeting tight deadlines, with a meticulous eye on quality control of the final product.
Creates, produces and edits video and audio features, including conducting interviews with sources such as faculty members and students for platforms such as Miami’s website, social media channels, commercials and various other platforms.
Organizes and coordinates the details of video production work. Conducts location site surveys and production planning meetings. Specifies the staff, facilities and equipment needed. Edits or directs the editing of video materials including selection of scenes, transitions, special effects, narration, and background music.
Ensures compliance with University video and brand standards.
Provides recommendations for enhancing public awareness and engagement through use of video and audio.
Researches and develops new techniques for conveying and presenting material within video projects. Evaluates new audio/visual equipment and recommends use. Keeps abreast of new technologies.

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant, related experience. Degree in audio/visual communications, broadcasting, television production, film or other related field required.
Demonstrated ability to transform complex topics into engaging video stories.
Ability to create, compose, edit video scripts and storyboards.
Demonstrated technical experience using video creation/editing software (Final Cut Pro, AVID, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, etc.).
Expertise and mastery of video production process, camera operation, different camera and lens types, microphones, proper filming techniques, lighting design, and post-production.
Experience covering live events.
Understanding of technical requirements for delivery of assets on various distribution channels. Strong knowledge of current and emerging audio/video technologies, live streaming, and multimedia communications.
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Significant independent judgment and self-motivation.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
A positive, can-do attitude with a deep desire to constantly be looking to improve and innovate. Collaboration is key as well as being a team player. Ability to think creatively and approach a wide variety of projects from new angles. Must be an imaginative storyteller.
