The Miquon School is seeking a full-time (12 month) Community Coordinator starting in January 2020. Miquon is a community that values racial, ethnic, economic, religious, gender, and social diversity and we seek applicants who represent and broaden that diversity.
The Community Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact in the front office and as the office manager, supporting Miquon children, families, and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to elementary education, a warm demeanor, and positive attitude, as well as the ability to multitask with efficiency and ease.
The Coordinator serves as the school (front office) receptionist.
Greets students, parents, and visitors
Answers phone calls/inquiries and directs to appropriate staff
Performs general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and distribution of mail
Maintains up-to-date records and databases of Miquon student/family emergency contact information and health-related information
The Coordinator supports the school community and students as needed.
Manages school calendar; coordinates spaces and supplies for school events
Manages student arrival and dismissal; registers students for Extended Day Programs
Provides student first aid, keeps injury/accident log, interfaces with visiting nurse
Coordinates purchasing and supplies school-wide; coordinates educational supply orders with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Oversees school copier use and maintenance
The Coordinator supports and streamlines internal communications for staff.
Coordinates daily correspondence, record keeping, mailings, and weekly staff bulletin
Maintains, updates, and distributes school calendars and appointments; schedules substitute teachers when needed
Provides administrative support to admissions, development, and communications
Coordinates hiring committees; obtains and records child clearances and requirements for driving documentation for staff and volunteers
Coordinates school visitor appointments and visit schedules
Schedules, coordinates, and attends staff meetings; records and distributes meeting minutes
This position is a full-time role, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Some non-traditional work hours are required, including occasional nights and weekends for meetings and special events.

Founded in 1932 in a tradition of Progressive education that is upheld today, Miquon is an independent, coeducational elementary school just outside Philadelphia for children in Nursery (age three) through the 6th grade. The school enrolls approximately 150 students in eight mixed-age groups, typically 18-22 children in size.
