The Assistant Director of College Testing Services provides direct supervision and evaluation to a large team of front-line, part-time and full-time staff. This position ensures quality delivery of testing services. This role manages space assignments during high traffic service times. The incumbent develops, maintains, carries-out, explains, interprets, and enforces policy and procedure, as well as provides direct services to those that report for testing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises assigned area of responsibility and staff by recruiting and hiring, assigning and delegating tasks, providing direction, resolving work problems, communicating job expectations, training employees, and developing professional growth opportunities. Conducts annual employee evaluations, provides ongoing feedback and coaching, and effectively recommends pay increases, promotions and other personnel actions. Approves leaves and authorizes overtime as appropriate. Administers disciplinary actions upon approval and in collaboration with Human Resources. Interprets, explains, carries out and enforces the College's policies. Conducts pre/post event meetings with staff and other assigned groups.
Manages and operates assessment services meeting the professional and academic departments and external community partners. Participates in computer-based and paper-and-pencil instructor provided academic tests administration processes. Ensures a secure testing environment and enforces testing center's guidelines at the Main Campus and Regional Learning Centers. Oversees that all tests, distance learning, classroom makeups, departmental curriculum exams, proficiency exams, and special requests are administered within approved guidelines in a consistent and efficient manner. Ensures accuracy of printed materials. Creates and edits forms, brochures, and information packets for marketing of Testing Center services. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation including test administration statistics, performance and project status reports.
Business Process Management
Actively participates in the delivery of a College-wide testing strategy that supports the strategic goals of the College. Provides consultative services to academic departments, non-academic departments, College workforce initiatives, and external community partners on testing and assessment services, tools, and products to support their respective professional, organizational, and academic needs. Evaluates and assesses effectiveness of Testing Center.
Facilities and Fiscal Management
Solicits, negotiates and maintains vendor assessment tools deemed necessary for degree and certificate programs, and community needs. Generates and maintains revenue from vendor assessments for the College by providing necessary tests for degreed, certifiable, and professional academic and non-academic programs and/or community partnerships. Collaborates with IT and other departments, as necessary, to assure the proper maintenance, viability, and functionality of technologies needed to administer, report, and monitor testing services.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Attends all required meetings and trainings. Hours will include evenings and weekends. *Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods of time, and occasionally sits. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 25 pounds when moving files, boxes and other materials.
Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices. Must travel to various Columbus State campuses and sites.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Higher Education, Business Management, or a closely related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in tests administration. *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Columbus State Community College has been meeting the diverse educational needs of the Central Ohio community for more than 50 years.
